An incredible antique primitive wooden wagon jack, sometimes referred to as a buggy, carriage or barn jack. Originally used during the 19th and early 20th centuries to lift horse-drawn wagons and carriages for changing wheels or greasing axles.
Constructed of beautifully aged wood with original iron hardware and a long lever mechanism. Years of use have left it with an exceptional timeworn patina, scattered old paint and markings that speak to its utilitarian past.
Today, these early wagon jacks make wonderful pieces of primitive American folk art. We love this one simply displayed for its sculptural form or repurposed as an unexpected stand for a seasonal wreath. Beautiful layered with equestrian artwork, antique signage and other collected objects.
